19787 The history of the Vaynor Park estate can be traced back to 1459 when Howel ap Ievan was granted the corn and fulling mills of Eberrewe (Berriew) by Richard, duke of York. He was succeeded by his son, Edward ap Hywel ap Ieuan Llwyd who built a house on the estate. He was succeeded by his son, Richard ap Edward, who died leaving his daughters Anne and Elizabeth as co-heiresses. The portion of Elizabeth became the property, presumably by purchase, of Arthur Pryce of Vaynor. The estate passed to the Devereux family following the marriage of Arthur Price's great-granddaughter, Bridget, with George Devereux. After the death of Pryce Devereux, 10th viscount Hereford (1694-1748), the estate was sold to Robert Moxon, a London lawyer. His niece, Ann, inherited the estate and married Joseph Winder (d. 1785). The estate subsequently passed to Joseph Winder's daughter, Elizabeth Winder (1752-1820), who married Joseph Lyon (d. 1809). The estate then passed to their daughter Mary Ann Jane Lyon (1792-1879), who married Uvedale Plymley of Longor, Leicestershire (d. 1871) who assumed the surname and arms of Corbett in 1804. He assumed the surname Corbett-Winder by royal licence in 1869. Their son, William Corbett-Winder (1820-1907), married Cecilia Millicent in 1872. Their son was William John Corbett-Winder (1875-1950) and his successor was Col John Lyon Corbett-Winder (b. 1911) of Vaynor Park.

19793 The marriage states he was from Haddington, East Lothian Muir, Peter (I678)

19794 The NZSG Index on CD, records that "McKeich A." left Melbourne on the "Ringarooma" on 13 November 1875 bound for Bluff. He arrived at Bluff on 17 November 1875.

A. McKeich (presumably Archibald) was single, a miner, aged 29 and born in Scotland. This is the first indication that Archibald was born in Scotland. There is no record of this birth in the IGI Files

The truth is that he married Emily Gordon on 12 November 1875 the day before the sailing and was 24 years of age. Emily was pregnant with their first child, Mary, who was born on 14 April 1876 in Invercargill.

Archibald's date of birth has not been verified although 1851 seems likely since his father, James, left Scotland on 16 September 1850. Mary, James's wife, did not leave for Australia until late 1854 or early 1855 and the second son, Robert, was born at Fiery Creek, Victoria, on 5 September 1855
No record of Mary's sailing can be found.

19795 The Parish records of Inverchaolain state:
16/4/1831 That Peter McIntyre in the parish of Kilfinan came this day to intimate his purpose of marriage with Elizabeth Brown in Milton of this parish desiring the same to be duly published in form of law which was done but they were not married, she having run off with a John Crawford late shepherd in Ardentraive.

30/4/1831 The above John Crawford intimated to the ??? here on the 30th April 1831 that he and the above mentioned Elizabeth Brown in Milton were married by a Justice of Peace on the 18th current and requested that they should be proclaimed here as lawfully married persons on the three sabbaths immediately following such intimation which was accordingly agreed to by and done

19797 The present Kintyre Mac Shannons deduce their descent from one Malcolm Shannan in Kilblaan East, whose wife Florence McMath died in 1765 aged 40 and is buried in Keil Churchyard. Malcolm is said to have been a younger son of Hew McOshenog, 2nd of Lephenstrath, and father of Donald McShenoig, herdsman in Keil. I believe that most of the present day McShannons in Kintyre descend from two of Donald's sons, Duncan McShenoig (born 1799) and his wife Flora Campbell, and Malcolm MacShannon, grocer and spirit dealer at Lephenstrath Bridge (born ca. 1810, died 1874) and his wife Ann McKendrick, alias Henderson.
source http://www.ralstongenealogy.com/number11kintmag.htm

It is very unlikely however that Donald McShenoig, herdsman in Keil is a son of Malcolm and Flory as he married Barbara McNaughtane in 1790 and his first son born in 1791 is called Alexander, followed by Archibald in 1793, Mary in 1797, Duncan in 1799 etc and finally Malcolm and Barbara in 1810. It is however more than probable they are related.
