McNaughton, Pliny B., was born in Buffalo, N. Y., August 17, 1855, attended the public schools and finished his education at Notre Dame College, South Bend, Ind. His first business experience was with W. I. Williams, a contractor and builder, in whose employ he remained six years. In 1880 he engaged in business on his own account as a general contractor, doing mostly city work, and in 1885 formed a partnership with Frank L. Bapst, who, under the firm name of McNaughton & Bapst, were largely engaged in stone paving and the sand business. Charles E. Williams was admitted to membership, which composes the now well known firm of Williams, McNaughton & Bapst; besides being a member of the firm, he is general manager of the Buffalo Dredging Company, which company has a contract with the State of New York for deepening the Erie Canal on the section extending from Buffalo to Pendleton. He is also vice.president of the German Rock Asphalt and Cement Company (Limited), one of the leading asphalt paving companies in the city of Buffalo; he is also a member of the B. P. O. E.

HUBBELL - Nelson Ensworth Jr. Formerly of Orchard Park, NY, passed away August 21, 2010 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born in Buffalo, NY on September 28, 1922. He attended Bennett High School in Buffalo as well as the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ. Now heed the life of a remarkable presence: Attended Princeton University until the Navy detoured him to Cornell University Engineering; Joined the US Navy Scouts and Raiders, precursors to the Navy Seals; Scared Japan into surrendering when they heard Nels Hubbell was on his way to fight in the war; Returned after the war to Princeton to graduate in 1945; In 1948, married the love of his life, Jean R. Wesselmann, who survives him; Grandly loved and is survived by their five children: Nelson, Ginny (Michael) Penepent, Brad (Wendy) Hubbell, Marcy (Dick) Paton, Nancy (Brian) Anderson; their 13 grand-children; and three great-grand-children; Became a construction industry leader in WNY by starting and growing the successful Lerch-Hubbell company; Served as a highly respected collegiate football referee for many years; Acted as Deacon of the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church; Actively volunteered wherever he lived or was needed. "The man with the orange and black Princeton socks" will always be remembered by friends and strangers alike. Nels Hubbell never met a stranger. A reception to honor and remember this formidable man will be held Saturday, September 4 from 11 am to 1:30 pm in Edison Hall at Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida, 10200 Cypress Cove Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33908 (888-381-0567). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cypress Cove Employee Appreciation Fund (same address), in honor of the wonderful care Nels received.
