- Texas State Rep. Ronny Wayne Crownover, 54, of Denton, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
He was born April 13, 1945, in Crane, to William Riley and Gladys Josephine Byrd Crownover. He married Myra Robinson on Feb. 1, 1970, in Big Spring.
He was a graduate of Big Spring High School, 1963; University of North Texas; and Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, 1974.
Rep. Crownover was owner of Lake Dallas Veterinary Clinic and Corinth Veterinary Clinic. He was serving his first term as a Texas State Representative from District 64 and was a member of the House committees on agriculture and livestock and state recreational resources. He was a director for Lake Cities State Bank.
He was a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was past president of Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce and the Denton High School athletic booster club.
He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton.
Survivors include his wife, Myra Crownover of Denton; four sons, Scott, Luke, John and Dan Crownover, all of Denton; and two sisters, June Rogers of Santa Anna and Kay Lanceley of Fredricksburg, Va.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton. The Rev. Steve Plunkett and the Rev. Clint Loveall will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, in Texas State Cemetery in Austin. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 tonight, Monday, March 27, in the fellowship hall of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
