      WEDDING BELLS.
CHALMER - MATHIESON. A very pretty wedding (passing reference to which was made in our last issue) was celebrated at the Presbyterian Church, Sale, on Saturday last, when Hamer Laurence Chalmer, younger son of Mr and Mrs E. Chalmer, of "Langi," Hotham street, East St. Kilda, was married to Irene Laura, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Mathieson, "Inverclyde," McCole street, Sale. Rev. W. D. Marshall, M.A., Officiated. The church was prettily decorated with white heath, lilies and palms. The bride looked charming in a simple Parisian model of ivory and gold brocaded lame, trim- med with ivory to buff ostrich feathers at hem and sides. The court train was also of ivory satin, trimmed with true lovers' knots and sprays of orange blossom. The train was lent by Mrs A. Rennie, sister of the bridesmaids. A century-old veil, which was made in a Brussell's Convent, was worn. It was of silk net trimmed in each corner with sprays of seed pearls and held in place over the face by coronet of pearls and brilliants. The historical veil had been lent by Mrs. Angus MacDonald, friend of the bride. The bride's shower bouquet was of pink carnations and maiden-hair fern. Little Miss Gloria Spowart, who officiated as train-bearer, looked very pretty in a gold tissue frock, and carried a basket of dark red' dahlias. Misses Lexie and Essie Nixon, of Orbost and Park street, St. Kilda, were the bridesmaids. They wore cyclamen pink frocks with tulle scarves and turbans. Their shoes were Vandyked fawn satin. Bouquets were in autumn tones of pansies and ferns. Supporting Mr Chalmer were Mr Allen Denhett, Hawthorn (best man, and Mr Richard Unsworth Park street, St. Kilda (groomsman). The Church was packed to overflowing, many finding it impossible to obtain a seat inside of the building. Mr Norman Macdonald was at the organ. The reception and breakfast was held afterwards, in the Presbyterian School Hall, which was tastefully decorated in autumn leaves. Rev. Marshall presided. A beautiful three tier wedding cake was cut by the bride The toast of the bride and bridegroom was duly proposed by Rev. Marshall. The bridegroom responded in breezy style, his remarks being received with hilarity by the guests. After the health of the bridesmaids had been proposed by Mr John Mathieson (Nambrok), Mr Denhert responded on their behalf in a crisp and witty speech. A final toast of the health of the parents of the bride and bride- groom was proposed by Mr A. H. Dennett (Caulfield) and supported by Mr E. L. Rose (Geelong). Mr Mathieson, senr., and Mr E. Chalmer responded. Near the conclusion of the breakfast Mrs Angus McDonald sang "A Perfect Day." The happy couple left for their honeymoon by the afternoon train. The bride's travelling costume was an imported three-piece suit, with long tailored coat. The frock was of dull grey silk marocain, finished in material same as coat, which was blue with grey silk lines. Her hat was a smart creation of saxe shot tissue.
