- David, Robert and John Sheddan arrived in New Zealand before the main party of immigrants and had been able to find suitable land on which to build small sod cottages to house the families until more permanent homes could be built. The party included Neil Bruce, his wife and family, Robert Mcara Matthew Stewart, Sinclair Williamson, and William, Malcolm and Archibald McCorkindale with their wives and families.
Margaret and William arrived in New Zealand in 1867 and settled on 52 acres at Havelock (Waitahuna), initially in a two-roomed house built by David, who had bought the land for them.
