- They had the ferry house on Gigha and did all the freighting and carrying of goods and cattle. In this way the post office of Gigha came into being as they had to carry the letters to and from the mainland. After a while a shop was added to the post office and Margaret kept these two for morethan 50 years. Margaret also taught sewing to the girls in the school for 25 years.
