The defunct is referred to elsewhere as tenant in Smerby The inventory reveals that there was a legal action in tthe Dheriff Court to decide whether the stocks and crops on the farms of Craigs and Coluska belonged to the defunct or to two sons, John and Aalexander, that the stock and farm tools on the farms of Smerby and Peninver had been sold by roup on a warrant from the Sheriff Substitute but several bills are still outstanding and are listed.
