Helen L. Mathieson, age 96, a lifelong resident of the Oxford/Orion area, passed away on April 16, 2010.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Archie. She is survived by her loving children Kay (Frank) Hardgrove, Jim (Karen) Mathieson and Ann (Mike) Dinan; grandchildren Brent (Irene) Hardgrove, Christopher Hardgrove, Amy (Mark) Castle, Andy Mathieson, Michael Dinan and Mark Dinan; 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and 2 step great-great-grandchildren.
Also survived by her sister Pauline (Maynard) Kath and her sister-in-law Marguerite Hessler. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her sisters Evelyn, Anna, Marcie and Ruth; and her brothers John and Charles.
The funeral was held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Bossardet Chapel 39 W. Burdick, Oxford on Monday April 19 with Pastor Dave Gerber officiating. Interment Oxford Township Cemetery.
Helen married Archie Mathieson on 19 Jun 1937 in Lapeer, Lapeer, Michigan, USA. Archie (son of Archie D. Mathieson and Ada Blanche Walton) was born on 23 Oct 1913 in Thomas, Oakland County, Michigan, USA; died on 13 Mar 1991 in Lapeer, Lapeer, Michigan, USA; was buried in Oxford Township Cemetery, Oxford, Oakland County, Michigan, USA. They lived in a large log cabin type home just around the corner on Dewey St from Brabb St. they were friends with old man Malloy who lived alone in a garage close to their property.
