    Clair Headrick
    FLANDREAU - Clair W. Headrick, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at his farm near Flandreau.
    He was born May 24, 1916, on a farm northwest of Flandreau. He attended Stagelman rural school and worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Rochford. He worked as a farm hand in Moody County.
    He married Margaret Gregg on Dec. 23, 1941, in Sioux Falls. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II, and was captured in 1944. He was liberated from a prisoner-of-war camp in 1945 and returned home later that year. He attended welding training at the Flandreau Indian School, then worked for Dibble Motors in Pipestone, Minn. He started his own body shop in Flandreau, then began farming in 1960. He moved into town in 1987.
    He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau Masonic Lodge No. 11, AF & AM, Flandreau American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Siouxland Chapter of the AX-POW. He served as former commander of the South Dakota State POW organization.
    Survivors include his wife, Margaret two sons: Gregg of Phoenix, and Roger of Luverne, Minn. three daughters: Jolene Dobbs of Rapid City, Margo Zephier of Flandreau, and Cindy Dornbush of Omaha 10 grandchildren a great-granddaughter three brothers: Clifford and Richard, both of Flandreau, and John of Sioux Falls and three sisters: Mildred Applegate of Citrus Heights, Calif., Lois Allen of Mesa, Ariz., and Nadine Boever of Brinnon, Wash.
    Services begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Second Presbyterian Church in Flandreau with burial in Union Cemetery.
    Visitation begins at 3 p.m. today at the Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
