    After a six-month battle with cancer, George Reynolds Brown, Jr. passed away June 2, 2010 in his home in Stafford, Virginia.

    Reynolds was born October 27, 1957 in Ft. Worth, Texas to George Reynolds Brown, Sr. and Floy McWilliams Brown. He graduated from Memorial High School in Tulsa, OK in 1975. He attended the University of Oklahoma and later finished his degree in geology at the University of Texas, Permian Basin in 1983.

    Reynolds began his 20 years of service with Waste Management in Dallas, Texas. After living in several places, he was transferred to Stafford, VA as the Industrial Project Manager in-Plant Services Group. He loved his job and co-workers tremendously. Reynolds enjoyed playing golf and was a great reader.

    He is survived by his mother, Floy Brown, Manor Park of Midland, Texas; aunts Myra Robinson of Big Spring, Texas and Lucy Saye of Clarendon, Texas and many cousins. His father and infant sister Ellen preceded him in death.

    Reynolds was a member of Summit Presbyterian Church in Stafford. His family would like to express deep appreciation to Rev. Steve Dyer for his many visits, to Donna Noonan for her many hours of loving care, to Hospice and his friends and co-workers with Waste Management.

    Graveside services will be held in the Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City, Texas on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 am. Rev. Walter Thompson, First Presbyterian Church, Midland, will officiate.

    George Reynolds Brown Sr., son of John Brown and Flora Bozeman Brown who was born May 7, 1917 on his parent's ranch in Southwest Scurry County, Texas, died Saturday morning, July 28th in Midland, Texas. Graveside services will be held in Colorado City, Texas at the Colorado City Cemetery on Tuesday July 31st at 11:00 with Rev. Matt Miles of First Presbyterian Church of Big Spring officiating and Rev. Flynn Long assisting.

    In 1925 the Brown family moved to Colorado City, Texas where his father had purchased the sales agency of Texaco. In 1935, Reynolds graduated from Colorado High School and enrolled in the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California. In 1940 he received his degree in Applied Chemistry with a minor in Geology. In June 1940 he began what would be a 40-year career with Texaco, Inc. starting as a roustabout in Sundown, Texas then as a Petroleum Engineering trainee in Crane, Texas and was promoted to Petroleum Engineer a year later.

    In 1942 he volunteered for service in the United States Naval Reserve and was called to active duty in February 1943 as an Apprentice Seaman at Notre Dame University where he was commissioned Ensign, USNR in April 1943. After serving in Charleston, South Carolina, Yorktown, Virginia, Portland, Oregon and Dutch Harbor, Alaska, he completed his service in New Orleans, Louisiana as Lieutenant, USNR and was released from active duty on February 1, 1946 and resumed employment with Texaco in West Texas.

    On March 27, 1948 he married Floy Ruth McWilliams in Brownwood, Texas whom he had met in Midland, Texas. Their first child, Ellen died in infancy in 1954. On October 27, 1957 their son, George Reynolds Brown Jr., was born in Ft. Worth, Texas.

    His employment continued with Texaco at various locations, including Wichita Falls, Ft. Worth, Texas, New York, Calgary, Alberta, Tulsa, Oklahoma and completed as Managing Director of Texaco Overseas - Nigeria in Lagos, Nigeria in the summer of 1979.

    Upon retirement, the Browns moved to Horseshoe Bay, Texas and in May 2000 moved to Manor Park in Midland, Texas. He was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church and served as deacon and elder at various churches throughout his life.

    His wife, Floy Brown, of 59 years, one son, George Reynolds Brown, Jr. of Stafford Virginia, his wife Kelly and two granddaughters Brandi and Alex, survives him. Two sisters, Myra Robinson of Big Spring, Texas and Lucy Saye of Clarendon, Texas, also survive him. His infant daughter Ellen, his parents and two sisters, Jane Brown and Betty Brown Christian, preceded him in death.
